There is a strong possibility that cloned meat and milk will be on supermarket shelves by the end of the year. Currently, there are no plans to label cloned food products as such because “We feel like the average consumer is going to accept this technology as we move forward,” (Barb Glenn, Biotechnology Industry Association). Although some organizations believe there should be a label, I don’t think it has any real potential in the struggle for corporate profit and possible loss of profit from investment in cloned technologies, especially when polls have indicated that a majority of consumers oppose cloned foods.
