Detailed view of terrazzo tiles. |

Context: My office was cleaning out the sample library and getting rid of a lot of terrazzo, stone, and ceramic tile samples. They were going to be thrown out if no one wanted them, so I came up with the idea of using them to make a mosaic patio. |
Idea: I used the large 12x12 samples to create a pathway along the shade and herbal gardens, and sited the patio in a nook between the hostas and the herb garden that receives afternoon shade. The smaller samples were used to make a mosaic patio. The chairs were leftover from previous tenants, as well as the base for the table. Someone was getting rid of the 3/4" stone slab so I reclaimed it for a table top. My mother had divided a bunch of her ajuga which I used along the walkway, and added tiki torches to keep the bugs away in the evening. |
